Susie Samuel was born in 1918 in the village of Sweetes on the tiny island of Antigua. When she married, she moved to the big city where -- to make ends meet -- she opened her home as a boarding house. She served her guests breakfast, lunch and dinner complemented by an extraordinary pepper sauce, devised from her own secret recipe. Whenever she was asked, "How did you come up with that?", she smiled gently and answered, "It was a vision from God."
The sauce first went on the market in 1960. To this day, Susie's Hot Sauce remains a family business, one of the best-selling hot sauces in the Caribbean.
